"Home" is a sentimental ballad by La Toya Jackson which first appeared on the 2003 promotional copy of her not-yet-released album Startin' Over. Jackson released the single in late July 2009 in dedication to her younger brother, Michael Jackson, who died on June 25. All proceeds will go to AIDS Project Los Angeles, one of Michael's favorite charities.
Song information
Home" is an autobiographical song describing life in the Jackson family and the closeness once shared among Jackson and her siblings. A press release describes the song as being "written with affection about her childhood memories and based on the premise that no matter where you are or what you are going through in your life, you can always go Home." It is notable for a bursting refrain reminiscent of the achingly climactic verse heard in Simon and Garfunkel's signature tune "Homeward Bound." The lyrics hint at Jackson's exile from the family in the early 1990s when she was under the control of abusive manager Jack Gordon. Jackson expresses remorse over the "many years that we let pass" having been "parted by the fame we grew to only know." The song alludes also to La Toya's affectionate pet name for Michael, "Joker."
Release
"Home" was released on iTunes on July 28, 2009. The release was first announced on the website of Jackson's record label, Bungalo Records.
"Home" was originally not intended to be a single. A different song called "Love, Honor and Obey" was announced in March 2009 to be the lead single for Jackson's long-anticipated album, Startin' Over, which was completed in late 2008. In light of Michael Jackson's sudden death, Bungalo Records put it on hold in favor of releasing "Home" as a charity single in support of one of the late singer's philanthropic causes.
La Toya Jackson insisted that "All the proceeds go to one of his organizations. One of the organizations I picked was the AIDS Project LA. When you download the song, "Home," on Itunes, I want every penny to there." She added, "It means a lot to me because, as you all know, my brother has given to so many organizations, and this is one of the organizations he's been giving to for over 10 years."
Bungalo president Paul Ring commented, "We felt that to move forward releasing La Toya's album as planned without recognizing Michael's tragic passing was inappropriate. After consulting with La Toya, we decided that both Bungalo and Ja-Tail Records would not earn any profit, but rather donate all of our time, energy, and proceeds to one of MJ's favorite charities, APLA. We feel that the song and La Toya are amazing and to be able to raise awareness and funds for this organization is exactly what Michael would have approved of!" La Toya Jackson's business partner Jeffré Phillips revealed that Startin' Over has been delayed indefinitely.
Music video
Jackson filmed a music video, her first in over twenty years, on July 26, 2009 directed by Eric Bute with cinematography by Reed Smoot. The clip was shot at Disney's Golden Oak Ranch in Santa Clarita, California. The video was released online via Itunes on August 31. Access Hollywood officially debuted the clip on September 1, 2009.

her audience. Her style of singing is controlled,
captivating and inspirational. Her gift of song
opens the minds of her listeners and arouses a
new depth of soul music. Her distinctive sound
extends beyond boundaries as she consistently
blends nu-soul with grooves and vibes of hip-hop,
reggae, jazz, and a drop of funk.
Born in Bronx, New York, to Jamaican parents,
Alana DaCosta, as a toddler would hum the tunes
of singers ranging from Gregory Isaac to Donna
Summer. Alana's mother would often encourage
her only child to entertain herself with her "most
favorite toy" in their home, her mother's turntable.
Alana's exposure to various musical genres at a
young age influenced her singing and songwriting
styles. She began her musical endeavors at the
early age of 7, performing in school plays, charity
events and talents shows. By the time she was
ten, Alana began writing poetry, competing in
oratorical contests, and playing the trumpet in a
jazz and concert band. Two years later, she
enrolled at the Dillard Center of the Performing Arts
in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; where she excelled in
her chosen track of voice and instrumental training.
As a student, Alana performed throughout Florida
and Bahamas with some of the most talented
musicians and singers such as Roberta Flack and
Peabo Bryson.
A graduate of the prestigious Howard University in
Washington, D.C., Alana's strong passion for
helping others influenced her decision to study
Psychology as well as Music, with a concentration
in Voice and Jazz studies. She continued to excel in
her studies and performed throughout the
Baltimore and DC area. "One day my music will
touch the minds, hearts and souls of people across
the world, and will increase one's motivation for
self discovery and the desire to live life freely",
says Alana, a songwriter who truly understands
and respects the healing power of music and
conveys her artistic mission through her songs.
Since returning to South Florida in 2001, Alana has
performed at numerous venues including the
premiere screening of Erykah Badu's short film
documentary "Hair Stories" at the elegant Nikki
Beach Club in South Beach. Alana received
admirable reviews from her audiences at Hard Rock
Café Bayside and at "Urban Nights" held at the
legendary Eden Rock Resort.
In the recording studio, Alana has recorded
background vocals for various artists and has
shared the stage with well-known reggae artists
such as Beres Hammond, Luciano, Maxi Priest, and
Marcia Griffiths. Alana also performs at colleges and
universities throughout the United States with
Poetic Ahku, a group of poets, singers, and musical
pioneers that are driven by the desire to expose
the college audience to "homegrown" soul through poetry
and song.
With the drive and passion felt in her music, there
is no doubt, that this talented young lady is
destined to leave her own mark in the world and

Paul and Chrissie are a young couple, in their twenties, and have started a new family. Story as told by Chrissie I'll never forget that day. My husband Paul didn't even eat breakfast, he was excited and wanted to get to the fire station early. It was his first week on the job. And there at the door, he stood he stood waiting for a hug from Jessie our adorable 3 year old. When Paul told that her he loved her, Jessie's face lit up with a big smile and in her tiny voice she said "Daddy, will you play with me when you get home?" Paul smiled and said "Of course."
